Developer Certification Guide
This certification guide is designed for fintech developers integrating with a bank-managed instance of the Braid platform. The bank is the certifying authority and oversees all aspects of technical, operational, and compliance validation.
Certification confirms that your implementation meets the standards required by the bank to operate within a compliant and secure program. Braid provides the core software, but the bank owns and operates the environment and makes all certification decisions.
Pre-Certification Requirements
- API & Product Structure Review - Developers must understand the bank's Braid instance configuration, including API endpoints and whether the integration involves nested customer hierarchies or direct customer structures.
- Security & Compliance Agreement - Developers must sign and comply with the bank’s security, data privacy, and operational policies prior to testing.
Sandbox Testing & Evaluation
All certification work must be completed in the Braid’s sandbox environment. The following capabilities must be demonstrated based on the scope of your integration:
- Customer Creation - Create businesses or individuals under the correct product structure (nested or direct).
- Identity Verification - Trigger and manage the bank's identity verification process.
- Account Creation - Open accounts linked to approved customer records.
- Counterparty Management - Add counterparties for payments or settlements.
- ACH Transactions - Create ACH push (credit) and pull (debit) transactions.
- Wire Transfers - Submit both domestic and international wire transfers.
- Internal Transfers - Initiate ledger-based transfers between accounts.
- Transaction Cancellation - Cancel or reverse transactions when appropriate.
- Inbound Transactions - Properly receive and process inbound payments.
- Transaction Status Updates - Receive and handle reviews, returns, and NOCs.
- Funding/Sweep Account Usage - Utilize funding or sweep accounts if applicable to the program.
- Fee Management - Handle and reconcile any fees charged by the bank.
- RFI Workflow - Respond to requests for information (RFIs) initiated by the bank’s compliance team.
All issues discovered during testing must be resolved before the certification review session.
Certification Review
Log Review - The bank will review detailed logs and test artifacts to confirm proper functionality and compliance.
Live Certification Session - A real-time review will be conducted by the bank, with support from Braid if needed.
Participants include:
- Bank Certification Team (final authority)
- Fintech Engineering Lead (demonstrates system and answers questions)
- Braid Engineering Lead
Final Approval & Production Access
- Certification Decision - The bank is the sole authority in determining whether certification is achieved.
- Production Credentials - Granted upon successful certification and bank approval.
- Ongoing Oversight - The bank may conduct ongoing monitoring and enforce periodic recertification based on program risk and operational performance.
